Time keeps moving from a crawl to a run

Air becomes water

Perched on the window’s edge

Pecking at breadcrumbs

Staring through and wondering

Is there anyone in there?

Hunched in the smothering quiet

Nose almost to the glass

Fingers too heavy

This bird will never fly

He sips his cold coffee

Feels twinges in back and neck

Longs for the phone to ring

And tries to write.

Words and image are my own.

  1. I got an email on one of your poems yesterday. I really liked it but when I got to your site it had been redacted. I hope you didn’t think it sucked. Personally, i thought it was one of your better ones. Just sayin’
