Life is a beach
Time is made of sand
Yet flows like water around all and everything
don’t let it shift beneath your feet
Or bury your shoes
Keep your eye on it
It is a thief
If you turn your back
It steals your life
Your love
Your wallet
Like a monkey at some tourist trap
The sand of time is unbelievably light
So insubstantial, in fact
You think nothing of the individual grains
There’s just so much
You think it will never run out
Then in comes the tide
And you’re up to your neck
With no time left at all
I could have sworn there was an entire beach here
You say as you disappear without a trace
That is time’s great trick.
Words and image are my own.

Man, well put. “I could have sworn there was an entire beach here” … So good, so true.
